The familiar yellow school bus with all the flashing lights carries the most precious cargo on the highway.
A safe and enjoyable ride from school is a cooperative effort involving students, parents, bus drivers, school administration, several agencies and every motorist sharing the road with the school bus.

Here's how to CROSS THE ROAD SAFELY!
It's the most dangerous part of a bus trip.
Traffic SHOULD stop - BUT DON'T DEPEND ON IT!
BE EXTRA CAREFUL

Parents - Read and discuss the following rules with your children, and ask them to learn the bus driver's name. Children should understand that riding the bus is a privilege and permission to continue riding can be withdrawn if conduct is unruly.

Motorists - Anywhere in New York State, including school property, when the red lights of a school bus flash, you must stop your vehicle before reaching the bus. Whether you approach from the front or overtake from the rear, YOU MUST STOP! This is the law.

Amber colored warning lights are used by a school bus driver before stopping to warn other traffic of his intentions to stop and load, or unload students.
